The Thinking Behind Joy
Money is never “just money.” It’s your job, your health, your relationships… it connects to nearly every aspect of your life. Which is why the age-old cliche “money can’t buy happiness” isn’t totally true. Sure, a few twenties are no substitution for hanging out with friends or cuddling puppies. But your money absolutely can influence your happiness.
At Joy, we work with clinical psychologists, data scientists, neuroscientists, tech experts and financial services professionals to try and connect what’s going on in your wallet with what’s going on in your mood, helping you make smarter spending decisions over time.
We’re not going to give you a guilt trip, or tell you what you “should” be doing with your money. Instead, we’ll remind you that at the end of the day, the way you spend your money tells a story.
Joy invites you to log your spending into “happy spends” and “sad spends,” helping you chart how your emotions connect to how (and what) you buy. The app will suggest times to save, and analyze your unique habits to provide you with a dedicated money coach who can give customized advice, suggestions, and high fives.
Joy is also a place to get a daily dose of insight and inspiration. We’re digging deep into why money is so powerful, and getting real about our paychecks, about our feelings, and even about the weird purchases we don’t even share with our partners or BFFs. Because talking about money is talking about everything.
